Sometimes you get away with wasting the times when you are on top in a game, and sometimes you don't. Thankfully for us today was the former. Lukaku has to stay onside for that backheel goal, poor play not watching the line well. Werner has to hit the target with his. Kovacic's final pass is worse than Werners finishing or Lukakus first touch. Lukaku was helpful in our own box at least though, unlike Kai who twice flicked on their balls in rather than clear them. RLC was really good most of the game, Kante was not kante, Kova was poor and Dave looked tired. Impressed with our back 3. Sarr played really well, Trev did not let Toney bully him, so much so he was diving for pens. Christensen led well, Chilwell was really good. Lesson here is we won't always be so lucky. We have to do better when we are on top in games. We cannot afford for our forwards to keep wasting the crumbs they get and our midfield to be so hopeless at finding them. Final positive thoughts though, well done Sarr for producing a really good display when all on here doubted you, Trev for maning up and clearing the one time they beat Mendy, and how great it is to have a top keeper again. I actually thought Sarr had a poor game in the last 20 where his lack of aerial ability showed.. for me it’s no surprise that their big chances came from his side .. I can remember at least three 1. the ball that hit the post 2. the one TC cleared off the line 3. the one that Mendy saved with his face.
October 17, 20214 yr Well done Mendy. Our attackers can't score Our defenders score But.... What concerns me mostly.....Our level of good quality effective football. We had a second string team out there last night. That proves our squad depth is just ridiculous. The bad thing though is that had we played our first 11, the performance would've been exactly the same. Certain key players really need to step their attacking game up.
October 17, 20214 yr There are no easy games in the premier league. Brentford have been flying high and Liverpool conceded three goals there remember. Given the youth at the back I’d say this was the most impressive win of the season so far. I hear the concerns about the forwards. Crazy how many of the attacking players in our squad appear out of form. Norwich at home next weekend. If we can’t score a couple there then I’ll start to worry. Need to get Mount back in and playing well. He dictates our press and passion - we look a better side when he is playing well. Should be Rom, Mount and Werner for me.

The fact that we are top of the league is incredible. The writing has been on the wall for quite a few games now,we are struggling but still getting results. We have players that should never have been bought(havertz, zeyech and possibly lulu)and I ask the question who is responsible for buying this dross?. This is not a blip it is team that is struggling I'm afraid and will get battered more in the future. Our best eleven players are a match for any team in the world but our back up players are just not good enough. @coco Ban this clown please he's a Spurs fan who tries to make out he's Chelsea look at his profile nearly all his posts are not very subtle digs at us. October 17, 20214 yr Whilst I thought that Sarr struggled with the aerial aspects I liked his strength and willingness to be first in the tackle. I wonder if, under Tuchel's tutelage he couldn't be groomed as Kante's understudy. I have been impressed with RLC under Tuchel as well and think he likewise can develop in the Jorginho role

October 17, 20214 yr Chelsea match was on just as I arrived to one of my friends' birthday party, so after we won I had one extra reason to celebrate, my night was already a good one, turned into a great one. Massive 3 points after the intl break in a potential banana skin type of match against a very good club. Beat Arsenal, Wolves, West Ham, drew Liverpool and their only loss this season was a last minute goal by Brighton at their only decent attempt on goal in that match. We had to win this, we did it, kept a clean sheet and we move on to the next one, there is Norwich, Newcaste and Burnley coming up, we need to make those 9/9 before the Leicester & United matches.
October 17, 20214 yr Author Respect for Brentford has gone out the window after the managers post match rant, Brentford were not even in the game for 70 minutes, and yet he calls us lucky. They'll be in Leeds position next season, and Stokes position the season after that.

They happened to catch us at a good time right after the International break, and until we ran out of gas after about 70 minutes , we were the better team. Should have just taken the positives and stay humble. Shifield United's first season 2 years ago was a breath of fresh air too, beating big teams and playing out of their leagues. As soon as the rest of the league figured them out and a lackluster transfer window, it all fallen apart. Not saying Brentford will definitely be like that, but one season wonder happened plenty of time before.

They hit the post twice, had a shot cleared off the line and Mendy made 3 World class saves while we scored with our only shot on target. If the roles were reversed we would be screaming robbery and how lucky Brentford were. Their coach definitely robs me the wrong way though. I dont know what i have against him. May be its his hair.... lol

As you say, Kanté has similar weaknesses. It's very frustrating that, for all their qualities, our midfielders all have pretty glaring flaws. Yes he overhit some passes in the final third. But don't forget he created a fantastic chance for Werner with a through ball, when he released him right in front of the keeper, but Werner was hesitant to shoot.

October 17, 20214 yr I actually watched the first 70 minutes of the match and i had to leave to do something. So if you watch that first seventy minutes, you will know that Mendy didn't really do anything in the match apart from a mistake he almost made when his boot removed and I think Aspi was helping him tie it. So after the match and I was hearing everybody talking about the match, they were saying it was Mendy that saved Chelsea. Well, I think I've seen the highlights of the game, and I think I saw that overhead kick by that Brentford player, the ball was coming in the direction of Mendy, I think he just jumped and tipped the ball over the bar. I think we should be careful not to over-respect opponents. We have not even played against this Brentford and some people were already afraid of them. They don't know whether Brentford have players that are very dangerous. Because if a team does not have very good players, then definitely it will be easy for us to win them. I don't think Brentford have extremely good players like that, so this unnecessary noise about them, I don't understand. Yes the opponents will make some efforts too, but it is our job to make sure they don't score, if we do that, there's nothing special about the opponent. What is most important is for us to talk about the good performance that our players put forward. I kind of have a feeling that the coach really did a great job to come up with that 352 formation, I think it really worked against Brentford. And when we are playing against a difficult opposition, it is very good to have a coach who can use a system that can overcome the opposition. Because I think since Brentford has been able to draw Liverpool and I think win Arsenal this season, it's good to win them. Then its good to say that Chillwell's goal was nice. And I think Loftus-Cheek had a great game and I think Loftus Cheek should be first choice in midfield right now, others like Jorginho, Kovacic, or Mount, are behind him at the moment. Then up front, I feel Werner needs to improve, if not, Mount can pair with Lukaku up front, or Havertz or Ziyech can pair with Lukaku upfront.

Agree on that point, you don't need to belittle a side the way he did. Sure make your point that you were very unlucky and the opposition keeper had a great game and that you felt you deserved at least a draw, cause it is all true but show a little respect on what you are doing. We did not cheat, we did not get away with a Hawkeye failure like Villa against Sheff u, we did not give away fouls that were not given and should be pens. We fought for our lives to hold on to the 3 points. Oh and no mention of their main man falling like a fairy trying to get free kicks and that none pen from Trev eh? Lol
October 17, 20214 yr The weekend is a success after Chelsea winning. This was the classic trap game right after the intl break, an away fixture against a hungry side that already showed it can get results. Well done to Chelsea (especially Mendy) for getting the win. On a somewhat related note, ManUtd are 6th if results hold in the Tottenham match. What happened, did MU miss a monthly payment to the refs? Edited October 17, 20214 yr by TarHeelCFC Important info

We have players on our books that should be cleared out - Ziyech and Havertz we should just cut our losses- RLC has shown glimpses but fades like a winter sun.Jorginho is a very poor mans Fabregas and should be a squad player just like Alonso and unfortunately Azpi.
