Tammy gets cold feet in the box massively, if he can get over it then he can be a much more effective striker. But how long do we persist? Giroud isn’t good enough though, he is always caught flat footed. IMO I would persist with Tammy I believe he will come good, he just needs patience, time and Lamps confidence. I would give him a run of 5 games as a starter, and assess where we are after. Too much upside to just discount him after 1 PL start.
August 18, 20196 yr Christ we’re a fickle bunch, the lad has started a grand total of one game this season and already he’s being written off. Beggars belief, some by folk who think Zouma is the next Maldini - he’s had some shocking performances in a chelsea shirt and still folk say he’s our best CB. At least give the laddie until Christmas before throwing him on the scrap heap FS. Does no one think it’s telling they Batshuayi doesn’t ever seem to get a look in irrelevant of who the manager is? Maybe it’s just the simple fact he doesn’t show enough in training and doesn’t work hard enough. Edited August 18, 20196 yr by EdinburghBlue

It’s especially showing with the current manager who’s said everybody has a chance to show him they deserve to play for Chelsea. Who knows, maybe Michy is buckling down and training hard now or maybe he’s having a sulk like our former number 9.
August 18, 20196 yr A couple of years ago, I went to a Chelsea youth game at the Bridge vs Man Utd. I commented after the game, on here I think, that despite his amazing record at youth level, I couldnt see him ever making it with us. He was owned that night by a 30% fit Phil Jones. I have seen little in his subsequent loans EPL and Championship loans to change my mind. Bad decision making, clumsy at times, despite his height he struggles with physicality, heading isn't up to much, and needs 3 chances to score 1. Out of all our first team squad, I have probably the least amount of confidence in him - well, Bakayoko aside (yes, I even have more faith in Zappa!). I am all for giving youth a chance, Mount, RLC, Christensen, CHO, Ampadu all have that little spark which sets them aside from others, but this lad I am really worried about. For me, he should not be ahead of Giroud and Bats (who I also do not rate!), and should be a player who we give the odd cup game run out for squad depth.
August 19, 20196 yr Dear oh dear. Gets 30 minutes when our midfield has folded, our creative players are dead on their feet or just cr*p (Willian). He links up well where he can, he is inches away from a good header connection and works hard. But gets panned cause he is expected to be Drogba...deary me. Have some patience. We were never going to make top 4 this year. This is a total rebuild job. Maybe tammy will fail and be sold but give him a bit more time eh?
August 19, 20196 yr Can't judge him on this game. Nothing he could do when he came on. We weren't on the front foot, and he was too often isolated. He hasn't shown he has the ability to make the difference yet either though. He'll get more chances...and we'll know at the end of the season whether he has a future at Chelsea or not.
August 19, 20196 yr We're not exactly dealing with a football virgin here - he's 21 ie a man not a kid, in 2017/18 he had the equivalent of 19 full matches playing time in the Premier League and in 2018/19 he had the equivalent of 38 full matches played in the Championship. Source: Footystats. Time to get over any nerves and time to look a good deal better than he has so far imo. As an aside I wonder if we aren't *issing in the wind with the classic lump it up/cross it to to the Number 9 position instead of favouring 3 highly mobile strikers across the front that attack/defend with the rest of the team as required.
August 19, 20196 yr Should have been playing for us the whole of last season, or at least from January, instead of looking to overseas all the time.

Or adopt a 4-4-2 formation until all players are fi and available and play Giroud up top with Bats alongside. Bats can't play but knows where the goal is. Giroud is a player that doesn't score enough.
August 19, 20196 yr I really don't see the hype around him maybe he will show it as the season goes on

August 20, 20196 yr Young player, needs time in the top flight. Did people really expect him to score 20+ goals like for Villa in the Championship?
August 20, 20196 yr Again, where have our realistic expectations gone? We are operating under a transfer ban. The players we have are the players we have to work with this season. It's not like we've made a calculated decision to go with unproven youth over buying an experienced striker. We know what we have with Giroud. Tammy and Michy are still young enough to be coached. At least Michy has some PL experience. We need goals from all three, so coaching, support, and tempered expectations are needed. Michy and Tammy have a great opportunity to show that they belong here. If they don't, we will look to buy in that position when we can buy players again. But it's solely up to them, and they won't be able to say they didn't get the chance.

He went through a few dry patches at Villa too. Happens with all strikers. He has only started 1 game so far and only the post denied him a goal in that game. I hope he can pick up a goal or 2 in the next run of fixtures to build some confidence.
August 23, 20196 yr Admittedly I got flashbacks of Lukaku vs Bayern as soon as Tammy started walking up towards the goal from the halfway line, but credit to him for actually having the balls to take it. Thankfully that wasn't the last ball he ever kicked for us mind... Fairly pleased with what we've seen from him so far, a few basic errors, but bear in mind he's only 21 and the team is a long way from hitting its full stride yet. Long, long way to go yet, and everyone in that squad is learning (except Kanté of course who is already immaculate).

What chance has he got when his own fans are so inpatient with him, i suppose he's the easiest target for some people, now we have an untouchable manager they are looking for someone to single out, viscous snipes about his haircut, instead of constructive criticism, that's what he gets from some of our fans. Only goals will shut them up, come on Tammy, shove those words back down their gobs, Frank has faith in you, his word is all that matters. He'll get a brace today if he starts.
August 24, 20196 yr Pressing and finishing was excellent today. He wasn't involved too much, but if he is going to score us the winning goals then I don't care. Now the challenge for him is to keep going.

August 24, 20196 yr Well taken first goal and an even better second. Fantastic our own boys won this game for us!
August 24, 20196 yr Don't know if it was just me and Tammy is his own player in his own right - so don't normally make comparisons, but Tammy's 2nd girl reminded me of Drogba.
August 24, 20196 yr Did a great job today. Got the monkey off his back. Now it's a matter of consistency.
