Welcome to Chelsea Ben Chilwell

No serious breakage but minor damage to ligaments according to the Telegraph, god knows how long it takes to heal from that but it sounds short term to me. Hopefully he'll be back in a couple weeks max.

Might be worth moving Dave to the left and playing Rudiger at right back. Maximize our threat on set pieces and is more solid than playing Emerson or Alonso.

Hopefully he’ll be back quickly.

Out of James and Ziyech, this is the one we'll be begging for to come back the most. This is purely because of how diabolical Emerson and Alonso are.

I give it one or two games until we are begging for Ben to come back because Emerson puts in a 3/10 performance.

Did we loan out Maatsen?

Edit: Used that new website ‘Google’, he at Charlton.

Google? What the heck is that?

It has something to do with internal combustion engines, but you probably don't understand my tech talk.

Speaking of Maatsen, I was wondering myself who in the reserves - not on loan - might be ready to join the senior squad and might get some playing time. Didn't Dujon Sterling and Henry Lawrence train with the seniors at some point?

I think Baba Rahman is still at the club this season. He could replace Alonso in the first team as 3rd choice left back in January :laugh2:

yeah poor lad.. he has had some horrific injuries.

Been poor for about a month/6 weeks at this stage. Only positive is that he hasn’t been a disaster defensively. His touch looks off and he’s constantly turning inside and going backwards when attacking in a half decent position. Very frustrating to watch at the moment.

Agree. His short passes are awful aswell. Constantly giving the ball away needlessly. We really need him to turn it around as none of the other LBs are capable of starting games in the PL.

I thought CHO did well as both a RWB and LWB, so that could be an option moving forward particularly against defensive teams like Burnley with James at RWB. But yes we do need him to turn it around as he has been brought in as our man to solve our left back issues. Emerson will never be better than a backup and while alonso could do a job as a wing back, it would not be a good sign reverting back to him.

He was rubbish today. If we are carrying on with wingbacks either Alonso comes in or CHO goes to the left and James comes in on the right as Chilwell offered us nothing going forward and broke up many attacks.

I'd give Chilwell a pass to be honest. Out of our big money summer signings he is probably the only one who has been an unqualified success, and a serious upgrade on our existing options.

He's a young player, he's English (and therefore stupid), he's barely had a rest in a couple of months, and the whole team has been off form.

If Tuchel sees playing a back three as something we will be trying frequently in the future, then Alonso becomes a viable option again. This should take some of the pressure off Chilwell.

He should definately play against Burnley although his recent form is not the best he very well could play a blinder with the new manager.

Lets have a bit of trust and see if he can improve.

With Alonso it's always been about balancing the attacking positives against the defensive negatives.

Didn’t do himself many favours yesterday, going forward and defending he looked a little lacklustre.

I think being replaced by Alonso (who has took his chance well tbf) has dented his confidence a bit and it definitely showed yesterday.

hopefully he will snap out of it as I think he’s definitely a better option long term than Marcos
