2021 was more satisfying for me also. We completely dominated Atletico Madrid who went on to win La Liga that year, comfortably put away a good Porto side over 2 legs and pretty much destroyed Madrid at the Bridge. Was only 2-0 but could and maybe should've been 6 - then in the final, we went on to not only beat but pretty much dominate this City side who are one of the best ever premier league teams. The only point in that game I was the slightest bit concerned was the Mahrez shot in the 97th minute!

I enjoyed 2012, but looking back it felt like we rode our luck massively. I don't think at the time I actually enjoyed watching any of those games until the final whistle went and then it was more relief than anything else. I enjoyed and obviously celebrated both, but the convincing manner that we won it in 2021 just tips it for me.

Let's just all be grateful that we have 2 European Cup triumphs to reflect on and compare. Compare to those in North London that haven't even got 1 between them 😉

I don't think anything will ever top 2012 for me. For it to come after 10 years of trying with a squad full of stars who we all thought had missed their chance at it. It wasn't the prettiest football but I've never seen us play with more heart.

Arsenal at the moment are playing better, yes, let's wait and see until they start playing Thursday and weekend every week. But Spurs, really? I don't know where this year's love for the spuds come from, but they've been playing sh*te and have only been lucky. I'd say they are no more entertaining or playing better football than us.

Spurs are a lot better off simply as they start the season with a top manager in Conte, rather than Nuno.

It's slightly different though, because it's over two legs in the round of 16, the quarter finals and the semi finals. Takes away more of the luck factor and makes it likelier the better team is going to come out on top.

That's true mate. I'm not saying you don't have to be an exceptional team to win it I'm just saying it doesn't make you the best team in Europe. Let's face it , if you're not even the best time in your league, you can't be the best team in Europe, that was the original let I was replying to.

That's just academic though , winning it is a great and memorable achievement.

Technically we have 4, if you're being generous, we have 8.

They're both equally brilliant and have their own uniqueness about them.

We're blessed that we can compare and contrast the two. Arsenal, Spurs and City are still waiting to win 1 between the three of them 😉

One of the biggest improvements I've noticed is our transition. We've scored a lot of goals/created a lot of chance from transition in the last few games.

We move the ball forward a hell of a lot quicker now, we are more direct at times too.

The time to pounce is now. Haaland and City are in a deep crisis, only one goal individually and only four total against Hampton.

This offense is 100 times better under Potter - gets the ball upfield quicker and more direct. You see players taking guys one on one more. Love how he has played CP in his best position and has really forced him to stay high and wide. Said from day 1 Mount is more of an attacking mid - great passer and gives you the ability to defend - then a winger. CP better one on one. Needs to get the rust out - got in great position and should have had three today. Like the relationship he had with Mount this game. Mount had two assists - one from the right side, one from the left - give him the ability to roam. Suits him well.

No doubt a promising performance. First real test is still to come for Potter though and thats when we'll get some real answers.

Today it was almost a carbon copy of when things were flowing nicely for TT. Similar dispositions as well with one winger at wingback and CBs being part of how we attack.

This.

We shouldn’t go overboard just yet. Promising signs however and the plus side is that we have a manager that is OK to forfeit possession if it means getting the ball up the field quicker.

Honestly no disrespect to Tuchel but it is absolutely refreshing having a manager that isn’t forcing injured players in. No doubt Kante would’ve started today.

If Kante was fully fit I still hope he would have sat out this one so he could be fully refreshed for the second Milan game. Multiple other midfield combos have shown to be more than adequate at dealing with these type of games.

Managing his minutes adequately was one of the things Tuchel was doing superbly well in his first half season and it resulted in Kante's best form since Conte's time but as time went on he went down the Lampard route of shoehorning him into every match he was fit for and as a result we slowly got back the shadow version he was during Lampard's tenure.

The biggest difference I noticed today was how much we were pushing for a goal at the end of the first half. Usually we will get one or two chances and then the half just peters out. We moved the ball into attacking areas quickly and we didn't let Wolves off. We haven't done enough of this for the past 4 or 5 years now, so I hope it's something we keep doing.
